Truckers,
Well, all the "hard" work was done and it was time to see how
my '48 3100
deluxe would do in its first car show. On the 4th, I entered the
antique
class at a local show with over 90 cars and trucks. There was some pretty
nice stuff in that class, and in most classes in general.
As the day went on, I was feeling pretty darn good about the
truck. Lots
of people admired the old girl, especially the paint. It shined
like a new
dollar, and the chrome was looking good. When trophy time came
around, the
antique class was announced first. Third place came and went and
second did
the same thing. When they called my name as first in class, I
was thrilled
to say the least.
I was sharing a shade awning with a couple of guys with nice
street rods,
so I stayed around to see how they did. One got second, the
other a third.
We were all comparing trophies when they called my name for best of
show!
Not too shabby, first time out and we came home with two
trophies. On top of
that, best of show prize was $50 cash!

there is also an interior and engine shot. This message is
mainly for those
of you who still have a truck in a thousand pieces and wonder if the end
will
ever come. Mine was apart for almost two years. Keep
working and don't be
discouraged by slow progress. You'll get there.
