  Well, 

  Preferably you'd want the engine/tranny inline with the pinion on the rear, 
but many, many vehicles come to mind that are not so (but should be possible 
in these trucks)....Fords, Motorhomes, etc either have offset motors or 
center sections...and they seem to last just fine.
