AIR.
Check for brake fluid leaks. Small leaks can allow air in and fluid out.
My truck has a similar problem. Much of this was attributed to a faulty master
cylinder...sigh. Another blasted thing to replace!
I'm tempted to put the darn thing back up on jackstands and redo the entire
hydraulic system M/C to W/C.
Just another quest to making the beast road (trust)worthy. :>)

How is the fluid level? If it's low you could of got air into the system.
