Gentlemen,

I too have forgotten to extingush the turn signal and gone for miles with it
a-blinkin. Perhaps the drivers here in the National Capital Area are blind,
tolerant or pondering the budget, but no one has ever brought it to my
attention. Wait I mis-spoke, my wife has brought it to my attention on
numerous occasions.

As to "a transistor that counts" - there ain't none. One can get integrated
circuit counter chips (little multi-pin black lumps like you see inside
digital electronics) but you have to know a good deal about designing a
counter with them, have to regulate the 12 VDC down to 5 VDC, filter ignition
noise, etc. I general a pain. Also when you are done - How many blinks
equals off?

The better solution is a louder noise with each beep. There are many devices
that would work, easy to use and VERY cheap. I would recommend a little
piezo electronic buzzer/beeper. They cost about $1.50, are small (about 2"
in diameter) and will work off the unregulated battery. A real dumb easy way
to use this thing is buy two and wire one for each side across the blinker
filament. Current drain is very low, about 20 mA. They are also loud.

A good source is MCM Electronics at 800 543 4330. The part number is 28-740,
price $1.49 in 1-9 qty.

Hope this helps. Contact me if you need more info/help.
