Thanks Barrie,
That's a relief - I have not to be ashamed for being Dutch!
Cheers,
Hans

As an old Marconi man I have to disagree with the speed trap being a Dutch
invention. Marconi became leading edge in radar after the war (Canadian
Marconi were still selling doppler radar to the USA military in the late
sixties beating out US firms such as GE, Hughes, Raytheon etc !) I believe the
traffic cop radar was developed at the Great Baddow Research Labs in
Chelmsford, Essex, and used by Brit police in late 50's. The inventor was
caught speeding and had to go to court where he categorically stated that the
device was accurate and could not be fooled. People were saying reflections
off walls and other cars could make it inaccurate !! He was fined !

Don't tell the Dutch governement about this big brother method!
We Dutch did enough contribution to the speed flashing hobby of the police
- Gatso who invented the radar speed trap is a Dutch invention.
The guy who developed this was named Maus Gatsonides and guess what - in
the fifties he was a racing driver!
