No, it's not an LBC thing, it's mandatory!  As long as you are using the same 
bulbs for the turn signals as you are for the hazard flasher, the turn 
signals MUST go through the hazard switch. It's the same on American, German, 
and 
Japanese cars. It's an electrical safety issue.
