The reason they have gas (nitrogen?), is to maintain the damper oil under extreme pressure so that bubbles do not form in the oil under extreme conditions. When a regular shock is overworked the oil gets hot and starts foaming, the gas pressure is used to reduce the foaming effect. Gerry |
