Another thing to look at is the bracket -- usually a steel stamping --
that allows the alt or gen to pivot
in order to adjust belt tension. Sometime that piece has become bent,
which misaligns the pulleys.
And yet another is the pulleys themselves; out of round or out of
true. If thing are breaking, there's a cause. The trick is to find it.
