You should lose just a few drops, but keep a rag handy. First thing to do is to fill the MC, then put a piece of saran wrap over the hole before you screw on the cap. That minimises air entry and helps to hold fluid in the system. Then you can move the hose. Oh, since you will be swinging wrenches around in the vicinity of the starter, disconnect the battery before sparks fly.
