On the brake pedal box there is the brake light switch.
Make the wires short circuit in order to see the switch is operating well.
Have the ignition ON while doing this. For prolongued troubleshooting this
way it's better to remove one of the low tension wires of the ignition coil
in order to prevent damage of the coil by continuous current.
If the lights illuminate, the brake switch maybe faulty.
If not - check the grounds from the rear lights. These can be corroded.
The switch is actuated by the brake pedal and might need some cleaning.
Also take care of cleaning all connectors in the circuit.
When reassembling the switch, it's important to have it adjusted correctly.

I am new to this forum and looking for suggestions on a brake light problem
on
my '70 MGB. I've only had the car for a short time but can't seem to find
the
reason for the non-working brake lights. I've checked fuses and etc but to
no
avail. Any suggestions on how to resolve this would certainly be
appreciated.
Thank you.
