Here is the __correct__ answer... but by now means the universally
recognised definition of a classic car.
A classic car is any car which gained a cult status of some sort viewable
within the realm of the public's car owning habits. It need not be of any
age, in production or not... for a Mazda Miata is a classic car already, and
still in production. A classic car also does not need a majority view to be
considered popular or classic, it must only be viewed as such by it's owner
or the casual enthusiast. A Le Car is a perfectly acceptable classic so
long as there is someone willing to save it from the scrap heap and continue
it's life, but with the owner's appreciation of the car itself. And there
you have it, a classic car is any car which is appreciated by someone for
some reason be it character and charm, nostalgic memories, or just it is
cool to have one.
This is why Ed considers his El Camino a classic car ;-) While I may hiss
and piss at the thought of owning such an eye sore, Ed obviously has some
sort of love for it... and that makes it a classic car to him.
