A common misconception is that the late MGB shift knobs are removed by
undoing the chrome nut that is below the shift knob. Actually, inside the
knob, there is another nut that goes around the shaft and down into the well
of the knob. This is what you have to undo to get the knob off. It requires
either a special factory tool (!) or a combination of needle-nose pliers,
screwdriver or hammer and punch, depending how tightly it is installed.
