Many thanks for those who helped witht the bumper question. Now on to the
hard part...
I am installing a new 1977 version wiring harness into my roadster. The old
harness was burnt beyond recognition, and the entire
ignition/starter/alternater branch was replaced by a bad DIY job.
To complicate the process, the dizzy was (1) previously converted from the
45DE to an older 45D4 unit and (2) to a Pertronix ignitor in place of the
points. The coil is now a Lucas Sport coil, in place of the US made model
that I found in the car (no makers mark on unit, not OEM). The Lucas coil
instructions state that the ballast resister should be removed (none was in
the car when I got it).
Which leads me to the question: How do I wire the car using the new harness
as much as possible? The harness has the following connections:
W and WU (ballast resister)
2 WB on a single connector (coil neg)
2 WLG on a single connector (coil pos)
Three-prong connector with W, WU, WB (45DE distributor)
And the ignitor unit has a red (coil pos) and black (coil neg) wire.
It looks like if I connect the WB and WLG to the coil along with the
ignigtor connections, I should have a complete circut, allowing me to tape
back the other connections. Am I wrong? (I often am, and I'd hate to burn
up my B before it gets any road time!) As always, any help will be deeply
appriciated. TIA.
