I've done the same thing myself. Live and learn. I was trying to caution
Skye on the third error of drilling out too much of the screw ( too big of a
bit). When the easy-out bites into it and you apply a lot of pressure to
'wall' of the remaining screw will distort and sort of wedge into the hole
along with the easy-out. That was one I learned the hard way when removing a
broken off head stud from a Kawasaki ( aka kawallski, fine polish motorcycle)
in my younger days.
Easy-outs are great tools when used properly, but they can be a bugger when
used wrong ( especially when you break them off in the screw....).
