The light is very dim only visable when it is dark outside. The battery and
altenator appear to be O.K. and I don't have any charging problems. Is this

It could be that one diode of the three diode set is burned out. I had a
car that survived this condition for several years before another diode
failed and left the alternator impotent. As long as your car never demands
more than 2/3 of the original maximum design charging rate (for an extended
period of time) it should be okay. Just to be sure, turn on every
electrical gadget in the car and check the charging voltage at fast idle
engine speed.
