Skye,
When I did mine, I used a thin (1/2") piece of wood slightly wider than
the seal retaining ring so as to get an even force all round the ring,
when re-inserting it.
Light taps with a mallet in the center of the wood was the order of the
day. Still, it ain't easy.
No matter how you do it, it is a real PITA.
