Joseph,
  I agree that cleaning around hoses, etc., is a pain.
  Something to consider is that the dirt that is clogging 
  your/my/everyone's oil leaks provides "False Seals".
  When you remove them via car wash, you may find a New Niagara of oil
  in your drive.
