Hi everyone,
I used to lurk about this mailing last last year and quit because I did not
have an MG. I have since rectified that situation and now have a 1980 MGB.
The car had sat under a tree for quite a while before I got it and had not
been well maintained. I am currently working on the brakes. Both rear wheel
cylinders were rusted and the axle seals leaking. I bought new cylinders,
shoes, springs and axle seals from Victoria. Everything went together
without a hitch until I tried to put the drum back on. It would not fit. the
problem seems to be the handbrake mechanism. The bar that fits between the
shoes seems to be holding the shoes too far apart to allow the drum to fit
over them. The cross bar is not attached. I sure could use some insight into
this problem. If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.
