Bill: Are you sure that isn't the weep hole made to ensure water drains off between the seal and the first bearing. There is a hole there that's suppose to drain off the water before it gets to the bearing. If you look at the workshop manual, the weep hole is in the cavitry where the spindle circlip runs.
