Douglas,

I would recommend that you use the standard bulb/socket used with the 
later TDs and make an unobrtusive metal bracket that will fit under the 
dash and provide the ground that the light is looking for.  As I 
remember, if that bulb is not in place, the indicators will not flash 
roperly.
