Still working my way through the TD wiring harness - onto the indicators
now.
My TD was not fitted with indicators so I am installing the system that
the later T cars (and MGAs) had - thumping big relay that interrupts the
brake and front side lights.
To operate them I have a nice ex-Morris Minor Lucas trafficator switch
(isn't trafficator a lovely word) which fits neatly under the center of
the dash. My wiring harness comes with a wire for the indicator warning
light. Rather than install another light somewhere it would be nice to
use the built in warning light in the trafficator switch. Only problem
is that the traffictor system warning light does not appear to be
compatible with the flashing system. The bulb is earthed through the
opposite traffictor to the one that is switch on - guess the resistance
of the bulb stopped both popping out at the same time. I don't think
that would work through the relay would it?
So I was wondering if anyone else has dealt with this problem. I am
thinking that perhaps I could use a small twin-pole bulb with wires
soldered on so that it does not earth through the central part of the
switch - or perhaps a LED or something. All suggestions gratefully
received.
