I like Joe Law's dyno . He borrowed somebody's absorption unit and machined
a copy out of aluminum blocks . He mounts the home made unit in place of the
rear and does his pulls with the engine in the lakester . He says it doesn't
take long for 1600 hp to heat up two 55 gallon drums of water .
Tom Burkland says centrifugal force makes a standard race car ductile iron
brake rotor burst at 4600 rpm . To use them as an absorption unit you'd have
to gear them down at least 2:1 .
