Russ;

Stuffing a SBC into a Corvair is hard enough-- I was wise to your tongue in
cheek.

Ryan Falconer has developed a very nice aluminum V-12 if anyone is
interested.   http://www.falconerengines.com/
<http://www.falconerengines.com/> There is a Corvette in the museum in
Bolling Green, KY that has a Falconer V-12 in it. Chevy did it during their
development to see how the 'Vette would handle more power-- according to the
sign on the display.

Neil:
even in Texas, the availability of good aircraft surplus was much better
when I was growing up, and I could barely afford gas (at < $0.25/gal) for my
'49 Chevy.

Just kidding about the Corvair and the Wasp Major. I'm really sorry,
though, that I missed the big aero-engined streamliners of the 20s, 30s &
40s.

Now, there seem to be better ways to do the job.

Russ;

You should have been in Tucson a few years ago-- big radial engines were a
dime a dozen. Aircraft scrap yards were a treasure trove of goodies back
then but they're mostly gone now. : (

Richard:
like almost everything that we argue about-- it's a matter of getting past a

class restriction. SCTA Rulebook, Section II-1, 1st paragraph states (in
part) ..."Only Streamliners and Unlimited Diesel Trucks may use more than
one engine at the same time."

So far, I haven't been able to find an affordable surplus Wasp Major 28-cyl
radial to put in my (ex Ralph Nader) Corvair-- but I'm still looking.
