Hi Bill,
The stock front mounts are close in to the block but rubber mounted.  If you get
four solid mounting points, solid to the motor, what about rubber/neoprene 
mounts
on those four points; they are farther out from the center so not as much
movement but that could deal with the vibration.

Also, has anybody tried any bracing (it would have to be designed so tightening
it didn't 'fight' the block attachments) to stiffen between the two plates?

I agree about the trans. tail, it should basically hang or be rubber mounted.

PS; the '64 Buick I'm using has the shaft through the 'X' of the frame with a
'CV' joint; has anybody had any experience/trouble with these?  Will I still 
need
a loop, two loops?
