Tom, Glenn, List : Yes, those old rodding mags are like GOLD to many
of us ! I started my collection in early 1951and have, in later years,
obtained
the earlier issues, and they make up the favorite section of my now fifty
year
collection of mags on rods, customs, and drag racing . GREAT READING,
especially for those of us with GREY hair ....... or NO hair ! ( That was not
directed at Delaware Joe ...... HONEST, Joe !!! )
It would be cheating to run to my archives for the TRIVIA question
answers,
so I will try to answer three of the five questions without further research
......
      Who owned " Beast V " in 1954 ? Chet Herbert, I think.
Who owned # 88 Olds powered Astra ? I say Bill Burke.
      Who owned & ran the # 76 roadster in ' 73 ? My guess : Al Teague,
Bentley, and ( Sadd ??? ) Not sure on Al' s pals' names ......
I read about the " College of the Redwoods " car, but memory fails me
on this one ( and LOTS of other things nowadays ! )
As to the 148 mph Sunbeam Tiger ....... I haven' t got a clue ......
and that' s for Mayf, anyhow ! Keith knows 'bout those little cars, too !
Thanks for the trivia quiz, Tom ...... I think the fun part is to come
up
with the possible answers WITHOUT going to our TREASURE TROVES
of mags and books ! I might just come up with a trivia quiz of my own,
but I think I' ll go back further in time . Maybe we could put a quiz on
Jon' s
website, since so many of us go there, and the winner could get a T shirt
.......
or ??? Jon ...... your thoughts ???
       Bruce
