That's us Doug!
Doug and I have finally tried to incorporate the many years of
wrenching etiquette that our dad has passed on to us in our Bonneville Car.
It was 1987 when my father and I went to Bonneville for the first time. We
loved it ! Through the years we've run the gambit from street racing, to
customs (had too many points against my license, so I had to cool it for a
while) to the drags, and now to Bonneville. It's basically a family race
team. Unfortunately, pop doesn't get to come out to California too often, so
Doug and I trade ideas for the car via E-mail, or call pop on the phone for
his input. Once we iron out the bugs in the car, we're throwing him in his
firesuit and lettin him take a few blasts in it. It's not a modified
roadster, but Doug and I think that he'll like it. As for Dan, I don't know
that I've ever met him, but from what I can read in his E-mails, he seems
like a nice guy.
I guess Doug and I have a pretty serious attitude about our car.
Doug has taxed his marriage, and I lost my girlfriend of 5 years, and we
both sink every dollar we can scrape up, jeopardize our careers and
friendships, all in the name of racing this car. I know every guy in here
has gone through some trials and tribulations in the name of racing yet I
often feel like we keep paying the price for our dedication to race the
salt. We still wait to enjoy the rewards of success that everyone else here
has already experienced.
