I=E2=80=99ve tried both Pertronix and the 123. Both are excellent.
What can I say? =E2=80=A6..
The Pertonix fits into the Lucas dizzy so it looks just right. The 123 =
uses a Bosch which looks fine and nobody notices.
The 123 comes with various setting with which one can choose =
one=E2=80=99s advance curve from a selection of 16 (!)pre-sets. (I set =
mine per advice and have never seen the need to touch it). Another 123 =
version is more advanced and allows one to connect via USB and tune as =
you go. Mine has =E2=80=9CSpark Balancing=E2=80=9D and =
=E2=80=9CAutomatic Dwell Control=E2=80=9D. Etcetc. You need to read the =
blurb.
Conclusion=E2=80=A6.I bought the Pertronix and was given the 123. Seemed =
rude not to fit it! Yes, I think the latter gives a smoother(?)/better =
spark but there was nothing intrinsically wrong with the Pertronix.=20
And, yes, carry a get-you-home alternative if you=E2=80=99re going far. =
People tell you that when the electronics fail, they=E2=80=99re DEAD and =
I=E2=80=99m sure that=E2=80=99s true. I carry my old Lucas with the =
Pertronix in the boot. Hopefully I can swap them over if the 123 fails. =
Which it hasn=E2=80=99t yet=E2=80=A6..I did have a total failure with =
the Pertonix. Just died. They swapped it=E2=80=A6at once. No argument.
Which one? I=E2=80=99d have the 123=E2=80=A6.not the clever clogs =
version. I=E2=80=99d not see myself sitting there fiddling away on my =
laptop.

I want to try an electronic ignition kit to see if my Distributor points =
plate is causing issues. What say you the hive mind on best kits and =
which to avoid?
If someone has a set up collecting dust and wants to sell, email me =
directly. I need one soon to put some miles on it before heading out on =
May12th for Conclave.
Thanks
