Ron,
The finish on these steel brackets for your BN7 is a smooth satin silver
finish, which ends up looking quite like polished anodized aluminum. They
were not painted. The repros I've seen do not have the original finish and
appear to me to be too bright, like zinc.
I'm enclosing a picture of a later style pair as fitted to a 100/Six but
they are the same for your car. You can see the smooth satin finish I'm
trying to describe.
