Bruce, I don't know of any drilled studs/castellated nuts, but if the nuts
are torqued with an accurate torque wrench to 50 lb-ft, using a cross
pattern, they won't loosen up. Make sure the studs aren't worn or damaged
due to the nuts backing off, and if the nuts are original they could
probably stand to be replaced with new ones.

Speaking of rear wheel lugs, a couple of months ago I was driving to
breakfast and heard a nasty clunking from the rear end. As I had fairly
recently put the engine/tranny back in, I immediately suspected the rear
U-joint mounting to the nose piece, but on inspection found that my left
rear spline was in place by one just barely snug lug, the other 4 having
worked their way up the studs. The right side was not much better. Very
scary.
So, anyone know of castellated nuts and drilled studs that could be used w/
safety wire?
