Talking about not recognizing and promoting things he did.
DMH also refused to accept the life size bronze bust of him which
was to be presented to him at his 87th birthday party (under threat
of not attending the party) .in Boston 1985. He stated, bust's should
not be made untill after death.
He authorized and posed for the bust made by Paul Nesse a world
renown automotive sculptor.
Paul traveled at his own expense to Cornwall for the sittings and photos.
The agreement was, Paul would create a life size bust for DMH, and to
recover his expenses, he would make 100 each, 1/4 scale bronze and
cold cast stone busts for sale to the Healey motorcar community. Upon
DMH's refusal to accept the bust, only 15 of the 1/4 scale busts had
been made and the project was caboshed.
Over the past few years, I have been able to locate 14 of the 15 busts.
Sometime in the future, I will tell the rest of the story.
