Micheal,

Others have answered you about this but here goes more. There is a really good
article in the Austin-Healey 100 & 100/6 Gold Portfolio 1952-1959 compiled by
R.M. Clarke. It was first published August 1956 in Sports Cars Illustrated,
titled More Horses for the Healey. A Ken Swanson of Consolidated Motors of
Long Beach, CA did the work written about.
The valve lifters were Buick part #GM 1393910 and Buick pushrod part
#GM1310479, doesn't say whether V8 or Straight 8 (I should know). Also didn't
say what year Buick. It goes on to tell what else he used, 1953 Olds valve
springs, high compression pistons by Merryman Ehgineering, a Plymouth clutch
disk 1940-1952, 270 degree reground camshaft-stock lift, and on offset key for
the crankshaft to resolve "tendency to be hypercritical in regard to ignition
timing". There were a few more things he did to the engine but you get the
idea.

On the same subject, I'm told that the cam followers in a 100 engine can be
replaced with some sort of Buick lifter which is lighter, possibly straight
8, although longer pushrods may be required. Does anyone out there know any
more about this?

This is what I have Mike.

100 cam specs:
Lift 0.390"
Timing @ 0.021" 5, 45, 40, 10
Duration 230

100M (and S) cam specs:
Lift 0.435"
Timing @ 0.021" 10, 50, 45, 15
Duration 240

IMHO cam profiling has come a long way since the days when these were
developed and there are better profiles around now.
In our Targa engine we are running 0.485" lift
Timing @ 0.021" 49, 77, 77, 49.
Duration 306
This engine still pulls very strongly from 1200 RPM.

I'd like to thank everyone for the bezel info for my BN2. What I need
now is cam specs for a stock 100 cam and cam specs for a 100M. I was
given a Healey 100 cam and we don't know what the grind on it is, but it
is not a used cam. David ANton at APT here in Riverside is going to
profile this cam for me, but he needs the stock info for a Healey 100
cam. He also wants to know how many Healey 100s are left out there
because he considering making cams for these cars. Anyone know haow
many 100s are left?
