In 39 years of British cars, I've never replaced a head stud, never had a h=
ead stud failure. Broken most everything else...........except for coils, =
never had a bad coil............

I know some people always replace them, I have never replaced them and neve=
r had a problem with head gaskets or heads--the includes Sprite/Midget, MGB=
, 4 and 6 cylinder TR, and big Healey.
Somebody, maybe Randall, said run a good nut up and down the thread, if str=
etched it will bind.
