Hi all
The issue for me with my rally TR4 is reliability in a variety of temperatur=
e and stress conditions, across the full rev range and with all the non engi=
ne tortional loadings that occur through whiplash in the drivetrain caused b=
y really pushing hard.=20
I had the same set of carillos in BST82B for about 5 years before I bent one=
through a valve failure so they are not infallible by any means but in thos=
e 5 years they did a HUGE amount of work at big revs with the engine running=
from 2500 rpm all the way through to about 8000rpm ALL day and sometimes AL=
L night.=20
I have literally revved that engine out of orbit in the most horrible condi=
tions and failures are so rare. With about 140,000 rally miles done so far i=
n the car as a package the engine is the most reliable element of the whole d=
eal and thats because it's got a load of expensive bits in it that are desig=
ned to be pushed hard, together with scheduled pull outs and maintenance and=
the help of some clever people when I need it.=20
I don't think there is much better out there that I can get my hands on at n=
on millionaire money. Carillos still have my vote.=20
