Braille 17. The number refers to the weight in lbs.
1.5 years of use while building and wiring the car plus almost 1 year of
running and driving. So far so good. :-)
Purchased through Summit.
CSRG and HMSA require a cover only if it's installed in the passenger
compartment as mine is.

just my 2 cents as a GT6 racer - I run a Braille lightweight 21 series. Small
but plenty of cranking power and has held up well for at least three years. I
think I got it from Pegasus - moderate price compared to some. I also run a
55 amp one wire alternator - Nippon Denso. I have it on a separate belt
cogged belt from the water pump so if it fails it does not take out the
cooling system. Two belts run off the cogged crank pulley - one to the water
pump and the other to the alternator.
Battery's strapped down in a plastic marine battery box on the "shelf" behind
the passenger seat. Best place for weight distribution. I like the box
because it keeps the terminals covered against random contact.
SVRA does not require a battery box, but interestingly, says that cars must
have a charging system "unless they historically ran without one". This would
seem to take you back to what the SCCA regs allowed at the time.
