Hi Dan
I run a u shaped brace around the front of the prop, and [sometimes had a
steel band round the top of the bellhousing] ... Best job is to 8 or 12 bolt
the flywheel. I've lost a 4 bolt & dowel at 6500 rpm.
Using a sleeved stag input shaft [stag a type od box] also helps keep it all
in there when it breaks loose as its thicker .... The flywheel just walked its
way along and stayed inside the case when I lost it. Minimal damage resulted.
Regards
Tony

Subject: [Fot] Scatter Shields
Earlier this year RMVR had an incident with a flywheel exploding on an MGB
I had given thought to this danger but had kind of dismissed it. In looking
over the archives, there was some activity regarding scatter shields in 2000
but it seems to have dead ended.
What are you folks using for scatter shields and their source. I see Uncle
Jack has (had) a metal "U" shaped shield that fits around the transmission
cover inside the car. Others feel that the shield needs to wrap around the
whole bell housing. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Dan Forgey
