Dan,
I am using the Uncle Jack item (bought at Carlisle some years ago). It fits
well and is hardly visible, especially when painted body color. It intrudes
very slightly on the throttle foot, but unless you have clown feet, it
should not be a problem. This shield will probably not give complete
protection should the flywheel disintegrate. Easiest to install when the
dash is out of the car.
An alternative approach would be to wrap several layers of ballistic kevlar
and epoxy around the housing. Probably a better approach and easier to
install if the tranny is out of the car, but a little ugly.
