Bill, if you haven't already, check the external cable connection (the
cable under the rubber cover).  Mine got weak and eventually quit
working altogether.  Thanks go out to Leo, Dean, Pieter and Jolene for
pushing me all over Roebling Road last month.   It turned out that the
cable had corroded badly and then broke at the lug.  I replaced the lug
and it works fine again.  Don
