Does anyone have any idea how these things work? First, what's the
theory--I can't tell what it's supposed to do by looking at the pictures.
Second--do they work, and how long.
For what I see in the assembly picture, $270 looks like a lot of money.
Two blocks with springs between them? But it'd be cheap if they worked
well and lasted.

Who is the Texas Dealer? I will probably go home for Christmas so I'll ask
Santa for one. I guess time will tell what springs need to be used on our
cars. If they are too strong it may lock all the time acting like a welded
rear.

I called one of the distributors that sells the PhantomGrip LSD product
here in Texas. They sell mostly to FWD customers. They did tell me that
the 904-green listed in the web page uses lighter springs than the
904-gold, and that since it all fits inside the spider gears I could use
the 9047-gold unit on a TR without any problem. Installation looks pretty
straightforward. They pointed me to web page for Mopar's that was
interesting:

This looks like a cheap solution, I may try one soon. The TX dealer sells
'em for $270.00.
