Do you have head bolts (usually the case) or head studs? If the head has
been severely shaved, the latter may work.
Head Stud    ARP        AP5.000        7/16b dia. 5 or 5-1/4 in. long;
coarse thread for block and fine thread for nut
                     ARP        AP5.250
Nut               ARP        10-APN12-1
Washer        ARP        10-APN1316N

ARP also makes head bolts http://www.arp-bolts.com/

hey anyone have experience with head bolts and washers to take up the
difference in a head?after being surfaced
i have a 2litre that has compression loss after less than 1200 miles on it
since rebuild of and notice the builder used washers
under the head bolt nuts it was 5 on one and 4 on another down to 2 in the
middle which i believe would cause the pressure to be different
when being tightened ? has anyone had their studs threaded longer to remove
the need to do the washer trick?
i know you can purchase shims for the towers to take up the slack if needed
but am struggling to work out a solution
for this problem
