hi henry, you are on the right track to boost the power in your car,
but i think to put a longer engine in, you will have to move the fire wall
back some to clear the eng. also a 74 eng. would be an L-26, 260Z
eng. with bad carbs, which you would want to change.
i would recommend a stock U-20 (2000 eng.). i put a U-20
in a 1600(it bolts right in), and kept the stock 3.89 rear end,
and the 4 speed trans(1st and 2nd gears are lower than a
5 spd). i ran the 1600 against my stock 2000 and it beat the
2000, by 8 car lengths, up to 80 mph, after which my 2000
started to gain back a little. they were both stock 2000 engs.
