Hi All!
I am a first time owner of a 1968 (I Think) Datsun roadster. I am hoping to
take it all apart and put it back together again. I have a million questions
but I will start off with just one. I say I think it is a 1968 because the ad
said "1968" and the Vin# is in the 1968 range. Everything points to '68
(according to various sources on the internet) but it has side marker lights
like the '69 and the Pink Slip says 1969. If it is in fact a 1968 I would like
to get the pink changes.
Thanks for the help.
Rich

Steve,
Year/model car?
SU's or ...? If SU's there are those inlet screens (on the banjo fittings, I
believe).
Any crap in the fuel filter?
Has your gas tank ever been cleaned/flushed/boiled out? If yes, when? If
not, it's time.

Sounds like intermittent fuel starvation.
Junk (flakes of rust, paint, preservative) in the tank collecting at/over
the pickup point, perhaps?

Subject: [Roadsters] Fuel problems
Group,
On the way back from our Mississippi River run in July my engine started
missing to the point where I could barely keep it running even at freeway
speeds. I did make it home and found that my fuel pump was leaking. I
changed out the fuel pump and added a clear gas fuel filter before the fuel
pump the problem appeared to have been solved. Last week during a lake
shore ride to see the Harley's here in Milwaukee for the 105th she started
missing again. The engine would die but I was able to get it started again
and proceed towards home. The new fuel pump appears to be working and the
timing is at 16 btdc. Bad fuel? Dirty/rusty fuel tank? Any ideas would be
welcome.
Thanks
Steve Harvey
