You can get stainless steel carriage bolts at Home Depot and polish  
them up.  Slightly warmer color than the chrome, but dresses it up  
nicely.  forgot which size exactly, and you'll need some washers big  
enough to fit over the square part of the carriage bolt in a couple  
of the locations.
