Alright, then let's get everyone down to their Nissan dealer to order wiper
pivots and ball joints (anything else?). I wonder if a sudden demand for
hundreds of these items will get Nissan to have more manufactured?

Subject: A little thing called "lost sales"

I ordered some transmission service parts for my 1600 today from the local
Nissan dealer and the long time, highly decorated Service/Parts Manager
mentioned the importance of ordering items that are reported as "no longer
available" as Nissan analyzes this data as "lost sales" and will have more
parts manufactured based on demand, among other factors.
