Hi Daryl,
I would recommend the removal of ALL plugs including the oil filter by-pass
valve if the engine block has one.
****make sure you can get replacements first****
The water jacket will be nigh on impossible to get clean in the tank without
all welsch plugs out.
To remove the oil gallery plugs I drill a hole, tap it for say 6 x .8mm
thread, insert a bolt and lever the plug out with a crowbar.
The other end plug can then be tapped out with a length of rod inserted from
the open end.
The above works well on L series engines so I guess it would on the Roadster
too.Regards,

Subject: 1600 oil galley plugs / Block prep
I am about to take my 1600 block to the machine shop.
Do you recommend removing theoil galley plugs at both ends of the block?
Plugs for the water jacket as well?
I have already cleaned up the casting in the holes where the water goes from
the block to the head.
I know I have seen this somewhere before but several searches in the
archives didn't turn up anything.
Thanks
Daryl
