Hey,
Finally had the time to install the new electronic distributor/12 volt coil on
my 69 2000 roadster yesterday. I purchased these from Gary Boone about a
month ago. Had no problems. Directions were clear and the transition took
about 1.5 hours. The perpetual pinging I used to have in my car immediately
disappeared with its installation. I'm pretty sure the previous owner removed
the smog equipment and never had the original distributor recurved. The car
used to ping even when I set the timing to 0.0 TDC. No more points too. A
great alternative if you don't mind not being original in every respect.
I really smiled at the alternative that the Southerner suggested for storing
your roadster for the winter. Us Northerners could take 'em when the temp
goes over 110 degrees down south too. You know, the seats are way to hot to
get into and we wouldn't want those dashes to crack from all that hot sun.
I've had fun taking the Roadster out to view the Christmas lights the last
week or so. Top is down and temp is cold - we just bundle up, bring along the
coffee/cider and do the slow neighborhood cruise. The kids love it and it
gets the car running - another alternative to storing it. For me, it's just
another chance/excuse to drive in my little baby...............I never turn
that down.
Drive Safe!
