If you can get away with the standard length lines with fittings (3/16"), you
are much better off.  NAPA sells them in 20", 30", etc. lengths.

Flaring tubing with a double flare tool is a real pain in the !@#$.  The
tubing tends to slip as you try to make the flare.  I've found if you slowly
tighten the flare tool, the flares come out much better.

Your local auto supply has a supply of tubing that is straight, and has the
fittings already attached.

You can also purchase the connectors and the metal brake line and make your
own
hoses.
