Thomas, 1" thick spacers are HUGE in any ones language!
In Australia any wheel spacer is technically illegal.
That is why I wail and gnash my teeth to find the RIGHT wheel for
anything I'm building.
While you can fit longer wheel studs to compensate for any
spacer/wheel hub, I feel there MUST be a safety limit somewhere!
Please be very carefull if you are doing what you describe.

While working on my Silvia I found out that with original
wheels I can use a 1 inch thick spacer on each side
in the rear and it still clear the wheelarches. I have
155-R14 on the 4.5 x14. The rear wheelhousings are
the same as the Roadster's except for upper forward
corner radius. Standard offset in the rear and 35 mm
offset in the front should work okay with wider wheels
& tires. I bought my spacers from H&R. They are for
200SX type S13 (240SX for USA)
