You're talking about the difference between PRO Rallye (fast as you can go) and
TSD Rallying (Time-Speed-Distance) which measures against a computed time. Both
forms are run in the US. TSD is more of a logic puzzle - trying to follow the
Rallyemaster's instructions without falling for his traps - and has much less to
do with automotive performance.
