I bought a 67 in March 69 from my HS friend's Dad, Fred Marshall, who owned
a Datsun/Alfa/Lancia dealership called Sportscar Salon in Flushing NY. It
was yellow and bone stock and very low miles. I think about 9K or so. I paid
$1500 cash and then the fun began as I never drove a stick shift before and
my Dad had to drive it home.
He attempted to show me how to shift and clutch and after a little while he
got out of the car and told me to learn on my own. He walked back home. I
did get the hang of it but on my first steep hill, wellll . . .
It was totaled by another car when it was rear ended at a red light in 71
after being stored for a year while attending college. The only thing that
saved my ass was not having my foot on the brake and my seatbelt and of
course the steering wheel. Fortunately I was the first car at the light.
I've had my present 66 since Sept 1979 with a few Zs in between.
Mike
