A few weeks ago, at Nelson Ledges Race Track, in NE Ohio with Sloan Racing
and a few other street roadster parked near by (better know as 'The Crew, an
eclectic bunch of OROC'ers), we were approached by a gentleman who knew of a
'brand new' roadster for sale and asked if we would like to know the
details. Nobody moved real fast so I handed him my card. A few days later
he called and said it was a 1500 never titled with 8200 miles; asking
$12,000. Okay, those that know me, know full well that I don't have that
kind of money, but what the heck, I asked for photos. Two days later,
Express mail delivered 14 photos of the car now on e-Bay.
The VIN is SPL310-02065 (or possible 02055, hard to read.) The engine
serial number is G-79810 (again, that 8 could be a 6, difficult to read from
the photo.). The odometer shows 8,213.1 miles. The photos show a very
complete, very clean 1500. The show room floor looks to also include a
couple of Corvettes from the early '60s and several restored automobiles
from the '20s and 30's.
I had asked the man I spoke with for permission to send this list notice
of the car, but apparently they decided to go e-Bay instead. While it might
make a nice trophy, as Mark said, I'd rather drive it. Anybody willing to
take up a collection? Oh never mind, somebody beat me to that pitch!
